Welcome to the Community Learning Center of Woodmore website!  We are located within Woodmore Elementary School.

Our Before-school STARS program runs from 6:30 AM until the start of the school day on all days that school is scheduled.  We are closed for school delays and cancelations.  Our typical before-school schedule starts with Challenge Centers.  These activities include studying and creating in Art, Cultural Studies, Reading/Writing, Health and Safety, Math and Problem Solving, Science, and Service Projects.  We also provide time for the children to work on a fantastic computer reading and math skills program called SuccessMaker.  The program has the ability to track your child's progress in a given subject and give them practice on the things they need most.  It also accelerates them when they have mastered a task.  Along with the Challenge Centers and SuccessMaker, we offer a bit of time for students to participate in free choice.  We wrap up our morning with a bit of gross motor time in the multipurpose room or out on the playground.

Our After-school STARS program runs from 3:30--6:00 PM on all days that school is open.  We open at the close of school on scheduled early dismissal days.  Our typical after-school schedule starts with gross-motor skills time for the students and is held outside on the playground or in the gym.  We then have a snack which consists of an individually-wrapped snack, fruit or juice.  During snack time, two to three times per week, our students participate in a program called Positive Action.  This curriculum is a research-based program that teaches students to make positive actions in their behavior.  The students learn about making positive choices through stories, activity sheets, crafts, and role-playing.

Students are then encouraged to complete their homework, reading, and SuccessMaker, a fabulous computer program designed to help students practice and improve upon their math and reading skills.  After this time, students participate in Challenge Centers.  We have a wide array of activities within these Centers, which we present to students, including studying and creating and experimenting in Art, Cultural Studies, Reading/Writing, Health and Safety, Math and Problem Solving, Science, and Service Projects.  Along with the challenge centers we offer a bit of time for students to participate in free choice.

Our Summer STARS program hours are from 6:30AM to 6:00PM. We offer similar activities in the summer program in addition to educational field trips on Tuesdays and swimming at Woodville Pool on Fridays.
